Ansel now has support for javascript "widgets" to enable embedding galleries on external sites or blogs.
During a recent web site refactoring, I decided to take a look at Horde_Routes and give it a try. This article summarizes what I discovered.
In this installment, we'll take a look at a real world example of using Horde to power an external website by building a custom photo gallery with Ansel.
In this second part of the series, we will look at using Horde's RPC server to get information from a remote Horde server via Horde's RPC interface.
Horde and all of it's applications have a powerful API through which a developer can obtain Horde content. In this first part of a series, we'll look at the basics of what is required to interact with Horde via the API.
With Horde 3.2 quickly approaching final release status, I've been working on getting Ansel ready for an upcoming release. Many new features and performance improvements are on the way.

Decided to torture myself and try to build a MythTV box

After a 5 year hiatus, I can finally return to the darkroom....
We wish everyone a healthy and happy New Year!
Some new photos added, and a new slide show replaces the old 'Recent Pictures' block on the main page.
The recent troubles with our Ansel picture server have been resolved, however it will be necessary to rebuild all of our online galleries. I will be slowly rebuilding the galleries over the next few weeks. I'll probably reorganize some of the pictures while I'm at it, so it might take a few weeks to get them all back....
Since Jordyn has taken such an interest in our aquarium fish, I've decided to put some more time and effort (and money) into bringing our 90 Gallon aquarium back to it's heyday...
A recent upgrade to some server software I use to manage the content of this site left the image data in disarray. I am rebuilding some of the galleries from backup and plan to have the images back online in a day or two....
While I hesitate to call something like this actual news - just call it a slow news night - I recently purchased a new smart phone. I got tired of always having to say things like - "I'll have to check my schedule when I get home" and "Once I get back to my computer to check my email, I'll take a look at that..." etc...
This is our favorite time of year here at the Rubinsky Family. The weather is nice and crisp, the leaves are falling exposing the skeleton of the trees. It's also a time when we are reminded of the things we are thankful for in our lives. We try to take stock of these things on a regular basis, but the Thanksgiving holiday provides a good excuse to verbalize these thoughts.
Jordyn recently appeared in her first little thanksgiving holiday show put on by her preschool center. Of course, when I say 'show' what I mean is a bunch of 3 year olds standing at the front of the room trying to all sing the same words...

Initial release of a new, aviation based Horde theme based on an aviation logbook application I've been working on.
Lots of milestones for our daughter (and some breathing room for the parents too!)
We are back a little early from our trip to Virginia...you might notice the update banner graphic on the site - a characature done while we were at Busch Gardens Eurpoe...but that's a whole other story in itself. Check back soon for some pictures and stories from our trip!
We've all been pretty busy here over the last few weeks. As they say, when it rains, it pours. Between a total bedroom makeover (for us and Jordyn), getting Jordyn's 3rd Birthday party together, getting ready for our trip, and Ashley putting in some major hours at the office...
This last weekend, we took a quick trip to Cape May, NJ to stay with 'Pop-Pop' and 'Grand-Ma' for the weekend...it ended up being a slightly shorter overnight trip...

The Horde Project is an open source project that I've been involved with over the last few years - after adapting my php IMSP classes for use within the Horde Framework. Since then, I've contributed to a number of the Horde projects and Framwork packages...
